Mom’s bf just told me the most ridiculous thing I think I’ve ever heard to date. Which is a feat, trust me.
Conversation went a bit like this:
*Mom’s BF is watching me play Mass Effect 2. I’m about halfway through the Lair of the Shadow Broker mission.*
MBF: “…This game is tired.”
Me: “Well, I’m only playing it through in it’s entirety for the first time. I like it, even if it’s now new.”
MBF: “Yeah….You know, there’s only one mistake they made with this game.”
Me: “Oh? What’s that?”
MBF: “Having the option to make a female Shepard. Shepard is a male.”
Me: “….Huh? What????”
MBF: “Yeah. With this story, Shepard can only be male.”
Me: “…………Well, I think Shepard fits as both male and female. It doesn’t matter.”
MBF: *Shakes head. Resumes watching in silence.*
I had no words. Normally I would have said more, but I was so infuriated by this that I couldn’t think straight. I’m still mad. I understand if you prefer the Male Shepard. I also understand if you prefer the Female Shepard. But completely negating the validity of a game/story because there’s an option to make your character female??? I’m sorry, I didn’t know only males could be a bad ass leader and save the galaxy.
End rant.
